Foodmate provides a free platform to help the local restaurants in San Francisco to update menus, manage orders, and reserve tables. This development is supported by third-party social app WeChat, to enhance communication experiences between the users and restaurants.

This project was inspired by the need to bridge the gap between restaurant and their potential customers through online platforms. According to the statistics, most Chinese restaurants in San Francisco have registered various food delivery systems like DoorDash, Eat24, and Uber Eats. However, less than half of the long-term users are actively using these platforms. The extensive fees, usually charged monthly or yearly, is one of the major reasons that restaurants are hesitant to make themselves active on the platforms. Together with extra charges from purchasing an extra device to operate the platforms’ systems, many of the restaurants are unable to affords such expenses on a long term basis.
